Continua il nome norreno mwlgSigrún, composto da mwlwsigr ("vittoria") e mwmarún o mwmqrúnar ("runa", "segreto", "conoscenza segreta")cite-ref-behind-1-3[1]cite-ref-coleman-2-2[2]cite-ref-llewellyn-3-0[3]; entrambi gli elementi sono ben presenti nell'mwpgonomastica norrena: il primo si trova ad esempio nei nomi mwpwSigrid, mwqaSigfrido, mwqqSigismondo, mwqgSigne, mwqwSixten e mwraSigurd, mentre il secondo in mwrqRunar, mwrgHeidrun e mwrwGudrun.
